Autumn
Unfortunately I don't have a source for this quote but I really wanted to use it none the less. I know many people dread autumn as it's commonly seen as the precursor to winter and being from the Canadian prairies that means essentially eight months of less than stellar weather.
But I have always loved fall and this quote fits well with my reasons. As much as I love summer for its beautiful bike rides, lake and beach life and patio drinks it's always such a rush. The longer days mean more time for fitting in as much outdoor activity as possible and life becomes very hectic very quick. I see fall as a giant exhale after the hustle and bustle of summer fun. The changing of the leaves is indicative of the slow down that I think everyone desperately needs. I feel much more present and observant in autumn, perhaps helped by the colour show that the trees put on for us. Mindfulness is something I'm trying to exercise more and autumn is just a perfect time of year for it. A slowness that allows reflection and regeneration. So join me in letting things go and taking in the present.
Happy Fall.
