‘Women Design’ by Libby Sellers

This book is such an important read for fellow womxn designers but also womxn in general I think. Sellers takes us through a detailed history of some of the world’s most important, famous and potentially even forgotten designers. There were some designers included in this book that I had never heard of and all of them had stories of fighting to work within the industry or failing to get credit for their work. Denise Scott Brown is one of the most widely publicised cases but also Alva Aalto did a tremendous amount of work with his wife Aino and she is hardly noted with credit for her contribution.

It was astonishing to discover all of this information about the imbalance within the industry and Sellers does such an amazing job of sharing these stories and communicating the importance to history not repeating itself.
