This month’s independent read has been American Chordata. This fantastic little publication includes photography, art, poetry and short stories. Reading through American Chordata’s pages was very intriguing. Sometimes I felt like I was reading a diary entry that I wasn’t really supposed to know about. The topics and themes were very real, unedited and at times quite uncomfortable but I think it’s good to experience those things. Especially in an outlet such as American Chordata which is trying to provide an opportunity for others to share their perspective and talent.
I also really loved the physical size of American Chordata. It was about the size of a hardcover book. So big enough that it wasn’t flimsy or floppy but small enough that it felt intimate and just really functional.
All images are my own.
