As soon as I saw this book I knew I had to have it. Canadian Women: Now + Then is not only a great collection of fabulous femmes from my home country but it is also illustrated by an illustrator that I love, Maïa Faddoul.

First about the book, I love and appreciate so much that the author has covered a diverse scope of talented womxn. From artists, actors and authors to scientists, athletes and inventors, MacLeod has done such a good job of creating a space of diversity and inclusion within these pages. It’s written that it’s still informative and inspiring for all ages which just adds to the accessibility of her book even more.

Illustrator Maïa Faddoul, I have followed for a while on Instagram and I love her ability to create very realistic work but to maintain a very minimalist palette and detail. It’s a magical combination that I think lends itself to the book and its topic so perfectly.

I cannot stress how great this book is and even if you aren’t Canadian I think you’ll find this book to be beautiful and inspiring.
