La Poire
The art work of Denmark based La Poire is so fantastic. I recently came across their work in my Instagram travels and I just love all of it.
La Poire features watercolour paintings with subject matter such as flowers and more abstract collage like compilations. The colours and soft blending is dreamy and wonderful.
The series that features womxn in coats I especially love. These coats are vibrant, bold and beautiful. I associate the use of flowers on many of the coats of having womxn bloom and thrive. To be themselves and share who they are. I feel that the oversized coats they wear speaks to the idea that womxn need to take up space. In a society where we are constantly told to cover up, to hide to conform to certain ideals, the portraits by La Poire speak up against that. This is just what I feel when I see the ladies of La Poire and the intent might be entirely different to that of the artist but that’s the great thing about art, it can mean so many different things to different people.
The ladies of La Poire are confident, assertive and most importantly themselves. Thank you La Poire for sharing your amazing talent with the world.
